Dear Vicky:
Just a short note to let you know how delighted we are with the dog you sold us.
He is just terrific and we all love him so much! We never expected him to be so smart and playful and eager to please, but he is. You did a great job with him. He goes into his kennel at night (we have one about twice the size of the one you shipped him in) and there's nary a peep from him until morning. At 6 or 6:30 a.m. we take him outside and he does his business right away. We are trying to get him house-trained for all other times of the day, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he masters that in a few more weeks. He liked the spot underneath our big kitchen table, so we put some newspaper down there right away and so that's where he goes if he doesn't go outside. It's funny how he understands that.
When we sit down to eat dinner Pam sets out a little dish of the canned dog food for him and he eats too. Then he just waits for us to finish. I love the way he doesn't beg while we are at the table. We have no intentions of ever feeding him anything while we are sitting at the table; hopefully, if we stick to that rule, he'll never beg us for people food.
He knows all five of us by now and I can really see how he is forming deep relationships with each of us. It's just so heart-warming. I think he really loves our home. Thanks!
-- Robert
PS We call him "Monty."
2nd note
Vicky: You may, of course, use us as a reference. We celebrated Monty's first birthday about three weeks ago and life with him is such a joy. We neutered him (per agreement with you) in his 7th or 8th month and his behavior changed right away for the better, just as you would predict. He is such a good boy; he loves all five of us and we love him. We're very outdoor-oriented so he has had to become quite the outdoorsman himself. By the way, did you know that Maltese love the snow? Maybe not all, but ours does. He goes on long walks with us and plays fetch in the school yard next door for 20-30 minutes nonstop. This week we took him swimmming for the first time. He's smart, healthy, and kind to children. He plays marvelously with other dogs: young ones, old ones, big and small, it doesn't matter. We keep his hair cut short all the time and he sits on the counter and lets Pam cut it. He's a great guard dog too and has made it his personal lifelong duty to protect our property. He eats his two meals a day and has learned pretty well the commands: come, sit, gentle, go potty, nighty-night, and go out? And he always responds when we call his name. What more could we ask? You did a great job breeding him and raising him. -- Robert |
