I've heard that Yorkies are hard to train, is that true?

Yorkies are super smart little dogs. What you need is a good schedule, patience, and to think like a dog. :) There are great programs out there to assist you with training. Go to a dog class, ask if they accept toy breed dogs-----go with the dog, that way you both learn. You need to know the proper way to communicate with the dog.

Here is an email from one of my clients with pictures of her little Yorkie, Nessie.

Dear Vicky,

Nessie has now passed intermediate level dog lessons. She did very well and many of the other dog owners wanted to know my secret to having her hang on my every word. I told them it must be the breed! They also wanted to know why she was never scared or didn't bark. They kept telling me those are Yorkie traits. I said I've socialized her from day one and you did also. Plus you never allowed your dogs to bark so she doesn't! These dogs are great to train. They catch on quickly and love the interaction with the big dogs! Cindy J.
