There are countless varieties of dogs out there; but sometimes you need a breed that you just can't help but fall in love with. At Gumwood Kennel we're truly in love with our Maltese and Yorkshire Terriers. With a happy, calm and outgoing temperament, these loyal dogs are the perfect fit for any family or home; we hope you agree! Our mission at Gumwood Kennel is to raise well-trained AKC Maltese and AKC Yorkshire Terriers. Both of these breeds are categorized under the Toy Group by the American Kennel Club, and typically range from four to seven pounds. However, for those looking for teacup Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier puppies, or puppies weighing three pounds and less, we have puppies for you as well. We ensure that our dogs are not over-vaccinated and we never use harsh chemicals with them. This ensures our dogs a long, happy and healthy life as naturally as possible.

What about these terms "teacup, t-cup, micro mini" etc.? These words are simply descriptive terms used by the public to describe an adult dog that weighs less than 4 pounds. It really is no different than using the term "baby doll face" "teddy bear face". It is simply a clarification. The terms are not recognized by AKC (the American Kennel Club) nor any of the Maltese clubs or Yorkshire Terrier Clubs. Yorkshire Terriers and Maltese are both in the Toy Group of the American Kennel Club, with the standard being 4-7 pounds. I do understand what you are looking for if you contact me with that request. We have some really tiny little AKC registered Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese male dogs. Spider Man, who orginated from Serge Cote in Canada is bareley 2 lbs.  Topper  and Mr. are also tiny little AKC male Yorkies, they only weighs 2 3/4 -3 lbs. We are also the proud owners of a very small AKC Maltese male.  I am happy to work with you to make the perfect match for your family. Most of our AKC Yorkshire Terrier and AKC Maltese moms are in the 4-5 pound range. We do  have the very tiny pups that mature below the standard weight of 4 pounds.  Sometimes we have a Yorkshire Terrier or Maltese pup that will mature in the 6 lb range. Most of the dogs that we breed and take to the show ring are in the 4-6 lb range. We do not raise any of the mixed breed designer doggies. My response to people seeking a cross bred dog (which is what a designer pup is) is to adopt one from your local shelter. Our goal is to provide a very healthy puppy to you from AKC registered DNA Certified Championship dogs. We never have dogs from any of the other registries. Smaller healthy Yorkies and Maltese live just as long and wonderful a life as a 7 pound Yorkie or Maltese. They do require a little different care and feeding. Remember, a well bred dog is your most healthy, trainable and beautiful puppy.

We strive not to over vaccinate our Yorkies  and Maltese  or to use harsh chemicals. We are always looking for a ways to be "more green". I prefer the organic approach to keep our yard flea and tick free so that we don't need to use any flea control on our Yorkies and Maltese. I am always reading and researching about holistic vet care and ways to help our dogs live long healthy lives.

We are located in the Dallas / Fort Worth Texas (Metroplex) area. You are welcome to visit in our home and see our AKC Yorkies and Maltese or we can ship the pup from DFW (Dallas/Ft.
